WHO we are

Billy Smokes was set up by former sustainability consultant Will Griffiths in 2015, after a life-long passion with food and cooking over fire. Will's background in science fuelled a hunger to learn more about what exactly makes great barbecue, so after a self-enforced barbecue boot camp and an enlightening trip through the southern states of America, Billy Smokes was born. 

Billy Smokes has a small team of hard-working fun-loving chefs, currently led by Head Chef Jarrod Sergeant. If you are interested in joining our team please fill out our Contact form below.

What we do

We cook quality ingredients with fire and smoke to produce tasty dishes with a distinctly British feel. Think of us as halfway between a great British summer barbecue and a smokey Texan food truck. We care a lot about great food and memorable experiences, which to us means warm hospitality and excellent service.

Sourcing is big deal for us so whether it is our meat, our vegetables or our wood, we only use ethically sourced, British produce from suppliers we trust. Almost everything you eat with us, from our sauces to our pickles, is made from scratch in house. 

Whilst we can mostly be found serving our food off our Brewery menu, we also do catering for external events so if you have a wedding, birthday or corporate party in need of great barbecue and excellent service, please fill out the Contact form below.

Drinks

Howling Hops serve a diverse range of draft beers which are all brewed on site and available from 10 huge serving tanks in the tank bar.

These are available in 2/3rds of a pint (£2.90 – 3.90), or in 4 pint pitchers (£17-24). The bar also provides tasting flights to sample 5 beers (£7.50- £12).

As well as beers, Howling Hops also serve a range of spirits, wines, soft drinks and espresso-based coffees.

We're lucky that the brewery tank bar has seats for a lot of people, especially if the weather is nice and the outdoor tables are in-play. Most of the time we can accommodate walk-ins straight away, but if you would like to book, we now take reservations for any days apart from Fridays and Saturdays when the brewery tends to be very busy. If you are looking to make a group booking for we can offer a special feasting menu to your taste and budget. If you send the details of your party we will get back to you with some options.
